Drugs are destroyin
g the lives of millions of people all over the country from here to Virginia and everywhere in between. Cocaine, heroin, crystal meth etc can easily be purchased in schools, backstreets and other places as long one has the cash and the connections. The government has indeed done a lot in an attempt to kill the drug trade however, a lot more still needs to be done if the war is to be won.
In Washington, people from all walks of life are affected by drug addiction; from the school going teenager to the middle aged man with a wife and children. One of the worst things is that it is not just the drug abuser who is affected by his or her habit.
Family members, friends, neighbors and other members of the society also feel the pinch in one way or the other. It could be the neglected spouse; the store owner who gets robbed by an addict who has no other means of funding their habit, etc. To say the least, drug addiction has far reaching effects.
It is difficult for a significant number of addicts to see the error of their ways simply because they are blinded by addiction. In such cases it becomes necessary for family members, close friends and colleagues to get involved through an intervention.
The aim of an intervention is to shock into reality an addict who is living in denial. Those present will have to make the addict come to terms with the damage that their habits are doing to them. There are many intervention programs in Washington geared towards helping destructive addicts.
Whether here in the Evergreen State of Washington or down in the land of the Mardi Gras, an intervention can be held in the office or home environment. In the former, it is the addict’s work colleagues who will be present during the intervention whereas in the latter it is family members and friends. There are many interventionists in Washington who can be called in to ensure that everything goes according to plan and that in the end of it all, the addict agrees to seek professional treatment.
An interventionist will organize everything in a professional manner by setting the time, date and place that the intervention will take place. During the actual intervention, the specialist will ensure that a positive environment is maintained.
It is the goal of the interventionist to calm down any individual who becomes too emotional or confrontational towards the addict. This is done so that the addict does not feel attacked or harshly judged as this could compromise the entire process.
Once the addict is made to understand the dangers of drug use, he/she will be required to commit to making lifestyle changes that will eventually lead them out of addiction. The other option is to convince the individual to check into a rehab facility where they can receive specialized addiction treatment.
